Tuesday

Not much new really. I did however get a new pair of shoes for work. I had noticed that the last few weeks my back was hurting more than usual. I looked at the pair of work shoes that I had been wearing and found them to be quite worn. So, off to the store to get some new ones. I don't have to have steel toed work boots so I settled for a nice pair of athletic type shoes made by Dr Schols. (I hope I spelled it right lol) Anyway, to make a long story short, my feet and back feel much better after a day of work with these new shoes. It's just amazing how much difference a good pair of shoes make when you're on your feet all day. With that said, I'll end this so I can enjoy dinner. We're having steak and whatever else Skittles fixes with them. Then we'll watch American Idol. After that it will be about time for bed. Till next time BYE!!

Monday

Where did I go? I haven't posted as I normally do or did. This last week or so has found me getting the living room furniture put together and arranged as needed. A little added work was done to the huge storage shelves that we got. They came with no back on most of the squares and that presented a slight problem when getting books to line up or for that matter not falling out the back of it. That was taken care of with some prestained wood cut to the correct length to fit across the back of the squares. We also got a new TV and that, if you haven't guessed is where Skittles and I have been spending quite a bit of time lately. Our new living room is very inviting now and beckons us to spend time there. There's nothing like coming home from a day of work and relaxing in a nice comfortable room like this. Our Xbox is set up and so is our surround sound system.

I haven't even been working on my trains or getting more albums into mp3 format. I guess in time I'll get around to it again. Till next time BYE!!

Tuesday

Another day of getting the living room ready. We will be getting the sofa and chair delivered tomorrow. All the furniture that had to be put together is done. We'll be shopping for things to accent the living room some time in the near future. After taking out the old stuff, I'm pretty tired. Time for bed for me. There'll be pics posted when we get it all together. I must say it's nice getting all new stuff in the living room. Sooner or later we'll get new stuff in other rooms too. That's about all for now. Till next time BYE!!

Monday

I've been pretty boring with my blog lately. I've pretty much been putting together our new living room furniture the last few days. I am taking my time with it trying to get it all together correctly. The huge storage units that will sit next to the tv stand have been the hardest to put together so far. You can go to Skittles' Place and see pics of them. We got 2 huge storage units, a TV stand, coffee table and 2 end tables. It just happens to be in the darkest color brown I have ever seen. It looks black if you view it from certain angles.

We ended up with this style of furniture as it was all the same style and color. It was pretty hard as we were looking at furniture to get everything in one style that we liked. Plus, I get the satisfaction of putting something together and using my tools lol.

Just a note about the albums I have been recording into mp3 format. I just grabbed a box of them from storage and started on it. The box I grabbed happened to be from H thru M , but I started recording them in reverse order. Just in case you were wondering why they haven't been going in forward order lol. It was just the case of seeing the face of the album and grabbing the first one. Till next time BYE!!

Valentines Day

It's been a good Valentines Day here. First off, because of a parts shortage we only had to work 7 hours. Plus the fact that a lot of people didn't show up because of the weather lol.

Barb and I had a very good dinner of Porter House steaks with garlic mashed potatoes, peas and carrots. Yummmy!! Barb is a very good cook. Hugs to her for this very good dinner.

For the rest of the night, we plan on watching American Idol and then it will pretty much be bed time for me. Even with the snow we had, it turned out to be a very nice day indeed. Till next time BYE!!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines day everyone :)

Wordless Wednesday

Tuesday

Well, the drive home wasn't bad. Just a few slippery spots to deal with. It had just started to snow as I left for work this morning. As I left from work, it was really windy and the snow has picked up a bit. I heard on the radio that we are supposed to only get about 6 inches of snow now. It doesn't matter much now lol. It's really cold out because of the wind. I can hear it through the window as I post this. So I thought I'd post a picture of the view out our back door. This is what it looks like now. That isn't fog you're seeing, it's blowing snow. It will make things nice and bright for a while. Till it all melts that is. Till next time BYE!!

Monday

It's been a pretty normal day for me. Get up, go to work, then a little shopping for things we need after work. The only thing I have to say about shopping is that people who are shopping should be more considerate of other people who are shopping there also. There are just too many times I get stuck in an aisle and not be able to go around some people who think they are the only ones in the store shopping. I get in the way sometimes too of other people who shop, but I tend to pay attention and move out of the way. I guess I just don't figure I'm the only one there.

Other than that, we are expecting some snow tomorrow. The forecast calls for up to 10 inches of snow. It's supposed to start after I get to work, so the drive in shouldn't be too bad. The good thing if any is that I don't have to worry about any particular time to be home. This makes it easy for me to just take my time and be safe. We'll see how it goes lol.

I haven't been going around doing my usual blog tours as I have just been tired. I'll try to get to them as time permits.I have been trying to get more of my albums recorded to MP3 format. I must say that it has brought back many memories of old times. It's been at least 6 years since I have been able to listen to them. Taking the old memory trip has been quite enjoyable. Till next time BYE!!

What I Do

I've been asked a few times about what it is that I do and where I work. I work in an auto assembly plant that builds Ford Mustangs and Mazda 6's. The plant itself is owned jointly by Ford and Mazda and is really a separate entity in itself. We have to compete for products just like any other plant. That's to say that if we don't build quality products, the main companies won't give us new products to build. I work in the paint shop of this plant and have been there for 19 years. I guess this gives a good look at where I work and what I do lol. Till next time BYE!!

Saturday

It's nice to have the weekend off. I did a little shopping today. I also cooked dinner. A nice roast with potatoes, carrots. onions, turnips and parsnips. I think it turned out pretty well. I also practiced my airbrushing. As it stands at this point, if I do any graffiti on my trains, it will be done with a brush. I just don't seem to be able to get a small enough pattern with enough control to paint something that small with an airbrush. I might do some more practicing before making up my mind though. I think the train cars would look pretty neat with the graffiti, but if I'm not neat enough, it'll look like a blind guy did it lol. I also got a couple more albums put into MP3 format. Other than that, not much is new. Till next time BYE!!

Saturday Photo Hunt

This weeks theme for the Photo Scavenger Hunt is broken. So what is this in the picture you might ask? Well, it's the cartridge from my old turntable that was in storage. I did get a new USB turntable for Christmas and it does have a new cartridge in it, but I thought about using the cartridge from my old turntable on it because it was a better brand than the one it came with. But, when I went to storage to get it, I put the cartridge in my pocket for the ride home and when I got home, I found out it had somehow gotten squished in my pocket and the little teeny arm that holds the needle for it had gotten broken. So, in short I can't use it till I get a replacement. I'll just use the one that came with my turntable till then. Oh, it's really nice to have a good zoom lens with macro so I can take neat pictures like this too.

Wednesday

Today got off to a good start. When I got up, Skittles was looking at another blog and told me that that bloggers hubby had yesterday as well as today off because of a parts issue. The bloggers hubby just happened to work where I work. So I took a look at the picture on the blog and sure enough, I knew him. Just to make sure I listened to the radio station that airs news reports about our plant. Yep, I had today off too lol. We don't usually get days off like this. The last time was when there was a fire in the paint shop. We got a week off then. Other than that, there have been maybe 2 times that we have gotten the day off because of parts shortages. And that's in nearly 19 years at this plant. Not a bad track record really. But I won't complain. I'll just stay home and continue to make some MP3's with my new USB turntable lol. Till next time BYE!!

I saw this at Skittles' Place and had to try it lol.

What kind of muscle car are you?

Albums

I know I've posted about my albums. Most of them are in very good condition if not like new condition. But, what I haven't mentioned is that over the years I have "inherited" a few albums also. Some were maybe given to me by friends or family who just didn't want them or something similar.

Well, I ran into one album in particular that I don't remember buying and it was in pretty rough shape. First off it was very dirty and had tons of stuff on it. Albums are usually pretty smooth to the touch, you can feel the little tiny grooves they use to put the music on with, but they should feel smooth. This one felt like it had sand on it.

I cleaned it as best I could. But it still sounds pretty rough, lots of pops and clicks. I still recorded it into MP3 format. I didn't get the first song though as it skipped in at least 2 spots. That doesn't make for a good sounding recording lol.

I'll still list this one as being done, but it will be missing one song from it's list. It's too bad too because it's a very good album. By the way, the album is Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin. The first one they did and it had many good songs on it. Oh well. On with the rest of them. Till next time BYE!!

What Kind Of Soul Are You

I found this at Skittles' Place

You Are a Prophet Soul

You are a gentle soul, with good intentions toward everyone.
Selfless and kind, you have great faith in people.
Sometimes this faith can lead to disappoinment in the long run.
No matter what, you deal with everything in a calm and balanced way.

You are a good interpreter, very sensitive, intuitive, caring, and gentle.
Concerned about the world, you are good at predicting people's feelings.
A seeker of wisdom, you are a life long learner looking for purpose and meaning.
You are a great thinker and communicator, but not necessarily a doer.

Souls you are most compatible with: Bright Star Soul and Dreaming Soul

Monday

I got out of work early today. It was because of lack of some sort of supplies we need. At least that's what the letter they gave us said. In any case, they gave us tomorrow off also. It'll be nice not to have to wake up early in the AM. I'll be able to get some more albums done too. If anyone is interested, that's what I've been doing since last Thursday. It' s my new addiction lol. Seeing as I have over 350 of them, it might take me awhile. I'll probably take a break every now and then to give my other hobbies a go, but this will take a long time to get all of them done.

Other than that, it's bone chilling cold here. It was about -4 degrees this morning when I left for work. BRRRRR!! It's still cold and won't really get much better in the near future so says the weather people. Maybe up to 15 by the weekend lol. Till Next time BYE!!

Album list 2

Here's the next bunch of albums I have put into MP3 format.

The Look Look Again

The Look We're Gonna Rock

Album List

Just in case anyone is interested, I thought I'd list the albums that I have put into MP3 format. When I went to my storage to get them, I just grabbed the easiest box that I could get at. It happened to have some L through M albums. Eventually I'll get to them all though. So here is a list of the albums that I have done so far.

Lee Michaels, 3rd album

Dave Mason, Let it go Let it flow

Marshall Tucker Band, Together Forever

Maxell Jazz collection 2

Meatloaf, Bat Out Of Hell

Men At Work, Men At Work

Steve Martin, Comedy Isn't Pretty

Steve Martin, A Wild And Crazy Guy

Steve Martin, Lets Get Small

Chuck Mangione, Feels So Good

I'll update the list every 10 albums so as not to bore the stuffings out of you lol.

Saturday

It's another Saturday. I still don't feel all that good. Darn cold! I didn't do a Photo Hunt this week. I just didn't feel like posting anything Gross lol. About all I've been doing is putting my albums into MP3 format. It's a slow process with labeling all the tracks to an album, but I'm getting there. I'm working on #10 right now. Other than that, I just watch a bit of TV and sit here with my stuffy head and rest. I don't even feel like blogging. I'll make my usual rounds when I feel better. Till next time BYE!!

USB Turntable pt2

This gadget is so cool. I can't begin to tell you how good it makes me feel using it. Even though I have a cold lol. It just brings back so many memories.

When I first got into music. I mean really got into it. Not just listening to a record player that was built onto a stereo that is. Separate receiver, tape deck, turntable. I didn't have the best, but I did get the best of what I could afford. I remember playing record albums and recording them onto my tape deck. Setting the levels and watching the VU meters. Back when I started there was no such thing as digital. Everything was analog. The meters for the levels on my tape deck had needles that swung from left to right as the levels rose. It was quite enjoyable watching them. Making tapes was a way for me to listen to the albums and songs that I enjoyed. As I didn't have a turntable in my car, tapes were the way to go. Oh, by tapes I meant cassette tapes. Not 8 track tapes. I did have a few of those in my earlier times.

But it's pretty much the same now for me as it was then. Sitting here listening to my albums as they are being recorded onto my PC. I get to watch the digital meters rise and fall with the music. As I said, it just brings back some happy memories for me.

One nice thing about my albums is that I took very good care of them and used a very good turntable and cartridge(needle) for them. I still have that turntable too. I just don't have a way to hook it up to my PC. But with taking good care of my albums, I don't hear a lot of pops and clicks in the recorded tracks.

The software that came with the turntable is pretty neat too. If I had pops and clicks it has a setting that will eliminate them as much as possible in the recordings. It can also save the recordings in several different formats. The software is called Audacity and is very easy to install and use.

I guess that just about covers what I wanted to. Till next time BYE!!

Thursday

I stayed home from work today so that I could see my doctor and try to get over this cold. I just feel all icky and tired. Rest is on the agenda for the day.

I have recorded 3 albums so far using my new USB turntable. This takes a bit of time as it isn't digital and you have to play the entire track and album to get it onto the PC. I've been doing it one track at a time so that I can pick and choose what songs I want so that I can put them into my Ipod. As is the case with most albums, not every song will be used. But, I do have them and will save them all just in case.

I didn't do the Thursday Thirteen. My mind has been feeling like it's in a cloud or something. Darn cold! I'll try to do the Friday's Feast though as I think it's fun to do. Till next time BYE!!
