Sunday

This last week hasn't been a lot of fun. As you might know if you read Skittles blog, we had an argument. After talking about it, it was all pretty stupid. I guess it's just the way I am. Anyhow, things seem to be getting better now. A work in progress.

One of the things I had wanted to blog about before and just didn't is about weight loss. I've been a big guy since I can remember. It seemed to start for some reason after I got my tonsils out in the first grade. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but that's what I remember. Anyway, after I had my back problem, sitting around the apartment for 4 months didn't help a bit. Even walking isn't the same as working. When I walked then, I could sit and rest when I got tired. It isn't like that at work, when you get tired you just have to keep going. Seeing as I work on an assembly line, you get the idea. The line moves no matter if you are tired or not. But I knew after I went back to work, I would drop some of that weight that found it's way onto me. I was right. The thing is though, with Skittles watching her weight and eating better, I have dropped more than I thought I would. Thanks to Skittles and her menus, I have dropped 39 lbs since then. I guess it would be a fair thing to tell my weight here. When I went back to work in Dec of 2006 I weighed in at a hefty 347. This is probably the heaviest I have ever been. Thanks to better eating habits I am down to 308 now. As they say, it's a good idea to have a planned target. My target is 250. That's what I weighed in high school and I could run and do most anything. That weight might seem a bit high for some, but at 6'2 , if I got down to 200, I think I would look skinny lol. I would also add here that I think it's going well as far as how much is being lost in the time I have done it. Actually, I think I should say "we" as Skittles is always helping with advice on eating habits and what I eat.

One other thing I wanted to comment about here. That would be about The Bestest Blog thing that Skittles had written about in her blog. I just checked my site meter and lo and behold I don't have a single hit from The Bestest Blog. Not a one. It doesn't really matter that much to me but, I used to get a ton of hits from it. Then again, I haven't been posting on a regular basis like I used to. Besides that, all the folks that commented on my blog were the ones that I visited and left comments to on their blogs. So all in all, The Bestest Blog really didn't do much for my blog except generate some hits, no comments really.

Having said all that, I guess it's time for me to be done here today. Till next time BYE!!

Like I mentioned this morning, I think we should find a town with a nicer name than Hell and visit THERE.

I know you've been losing weight as it really shows! I think you've lost more than me because of all the walking you do at work. Either way, it's good that we're BOTH getting healthier.

Congrats to you both on the weight loss!! I'm with you guys..... I need to lose quite a bit more. I dropped 70 pounds last year and then found out I was pregnant and am sitting here paranoid that I'll gain it all back...lol. Oh, well. I'll have work to do after the baby is born, huh?

It is amazing how much better you feel after losing weight. The human body is crazy!!

Good luck to you and Skittle's in the weight war!

Hi Mike, I was up to 290 and am now at 250. I want to get down to about 200 but will be happy with 220. Actually I will probably be happy in any event, I am that type of person.

I have a sugar problem, just have to watch it. I cut way back on bread for that problem but it seams to have helped my weight loss also, e.g. I no longer have toast in the morning, but sometimes do. In any event, large people often have a sugar problem. I said that to share this: By lifting weights 1 to 2 hours after a meal I can drop the sugar reading instantly, once from 207 to 108 after a lagre meal. (That took 10 reps per arm of 10 each with 25 lbs -- I usually just do 4 reps and if I repeat it may be with different muscles.)

Welcome back to the blog scene Mike and a really big congrats to you on the weight loss thing! You and Skittles are both doing really great with the eating strategies as well as the walking. One of these days, I need to get cracking too an at least get back to walking a bit. Any walking I do would be in improvement over the total couch potato I become over the winter months!

It's funny, I was as skinny as a rail until I had my tonsils out at the age of 4. I ballooned out after that too. Hmmm a connection? Just over 2 years ago I weighed in at 310. I am at about 240 now. Still slowly dropping. Now Skittles will kill me if I do not warn you about SOY PRODUCTS. DO NOT EAT SOY PRODUCTS. Trust me I know these things. I lost my weight by taking all dairy products out of my diet and substituting soy products for the dairy. I would recommend that should you do this to use RICE PRODUCTS instead of soy as it will not make your weenie shrink.

Just warning you ahead of time should you decide to try the no dairy thing.

(grin)

Later Y'all

Congrats on your weight loss! It's so much easier to diet when your spouse does it with you. I'm so proud of you both. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations for having the perseverance to go for the weight loss, both of you.

Marriage is an interesting proposition, isn't it. We are heading for our 33rd anniversary, and we each seem to alternate being the best or worst at it at any given moment.

Hey kudos to both of you. I've lost eleven pounds but still have a long way to go. You guys seem to have a good plan and it's great that you are doing it together. It makes it much easier.

Love the photos above too. Fights are a part of life. I say let it go and work at being happy...it'll all work out in the end. At least it does here and we've had our share of spats over the years.

luck and congrats! to you both.

Glad to hear your losing weight Mike. You will feel so much better. You and skittles are kicking my butt. I have only lost 24pds. Glad to hear you and skittles are back in the love zone again. argueing is crazy when you look back on it. And, guess what Mike we all do it. CRAZY CRAZY but then that is life. So keep up the weight losing life. Ain't it awesome to have someone to cook for you and you don't have to plan the menu. Wish I had a cook and then I could just eat it. yummy
