The photo's for my entry in this weeks photo hunt are pictures I took on a trip to Horse Shoe Curve near Altoona Penn. This was in 1986 or 7, I don't remember exactly. The first pic is looking towards the curve, the second one looking down from the curve and the third is of a tunnel near the curve. These photos were taken near the end of October.

I love watching how trains wrap around a mountain side. We have this place where you are at a look out and u see the train go into the tunnel come out one end and the other end is just going in. It is really cool

This is my fourth try. We have had nothing but server problems here for three days now.
I love the train tunnels. I have heard that there is a nature trail in the foothills west of Richmond that includes an abandoned railroad tunnel and lines. What a place to explore.
Thanks for the visit.
Beautiful pictures, there is something serene about train lines.
Mine is up.
We took the train from Calif. to South Dakota when I was 4 years old. I don't remember much except looking out the window at the front of the train curving into the tunnel ahead of us . . .your picture brought back that memory. Thanks!
Mine's posted!
Hi Mike, I stopped in from Connecticut to look at your pictures and they're very nice. I love trains and train trips and all that they entail!
Awesome!
Verrrrrry cool! I really like that top pic with the train in it!
Great pictures - thanks for sharing :)
Great photos! I love the fall colors in the first shot. I was born in PA. I've been to Altoona a few times, but never to Horse Shoe Curve. Looks like a neat place.
YAY! That are great pictures - thanks a lot for sharing them =)
Wonderful. Must have been a good trip. Great choice for the hunt this week.
BTW - Glad Skittles has you.
Hi Mike & Skittles too...I'm new to blogging and the Photo Hunt, my 1st is posted. I beleive Altoona is near a teeny town called Tyrone, PA, where my twin sister's hubby is from...and I went on this train a very long time ago, with 2 of my sons, like in the early 70's....Loved the photos! Come visit me when you get time!
This is to Mike (and Powerstwinb too) - Altoona is about 50 miles from where I live in an adjacent county and yes, it is near -about 10-12 miles -a teeny town called Tyrone too!
Altoona has a very nice Railroader's Museum too - for anyone with a really big interest in railroading and the history of that industry. For many years, Altoona was a powerhouse city with the railroads, building cars, etc. there.
Come visit this part of our fair state - we do have more than Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Heck, right here in central Pennsylvania, we have PENN STATE! WE ARE! Yep, better believe it!
I had to throw that one in, since I am an alum, ya know! It is, seriously though, a beautiful area and I do love it here!
WOW, I liked the first photo of the curve. It's really nice.
